All the buzz is about Sarah Palin's rugged individualist Western views. But is she really a Conservative, as the media is portraying her, or actually a Libertarian?

She is more complex than that. The oil companies in Alaska wouldn't call her Libertarian nor would the librarian she was going to fire until public outcry forced her to back off.
This is a sack of shit. She's a social conservative.

VERY INSIGHTFUL
"sack of shit"
I can accept that to some extent a libertarian would have different policies in the context of a city as opposed to a nation, but she billed herself as fiscal conservative in that small town and failed to live up to her words.
The Libertarian Republican seems to not know Goldwater. Goldwater repeatedly attacked the religious conservatives like Palin that had taken over his party. He would object to her anti-gay agenda. He would object to her fiscal policies as mayor. He would object to her thwarted attempt to censor books. Some of his statements are correct but overall she seems more influenced by her church than libertarianism.
Recall, the Libertairan Party of Alaska leadership and candidate for Governor endorsed Palin in 2006. I'd say if she's good enough for the hardcore Libertarian Party, she's good enough for libertarians on the whole. Maybe not a full-fledged Big 'L' Libertarian, but certainly of the mainstream small 'l' variety.
Also, as Mayor of Wasilla, she fought for keeping the hours of drinking establishments open, against the Nanny-Staters who wanted to close them down. That's about as libertarian as it gets.
