President Obama didn't wait long after Tuesday's devastating elections to give critics another reason to question his leadership, but this time the subject matter was more grim than a pair of governorships. After news broke out of the shooting at the Fort Hood Army post in Texas, the nation watched in horror as the toll of dead and injured climbed. The White House was notified immediately and by late afternoon, word went out that the president would speak about the?incident prior to a previously scheduled?appearance.?At about 5 p.m.,?cable stations went to the president. The situation called for not only his trademark eloquence, but also grace and perspective. But instead of a somber chief executive?offering reassuring words?and expressions of sympathy and compassion, viewers saw a wildly

"If you short memoried GOP fools remember." A lot of good stuff in Tark's response, but I like this phrase the best.;-)
Yes. Why Obama almost did as bad a job as that last president did when confronted with a national disater.
If you short memoried GOP fools remember, Bush continued to sit and listen to children's stories while the Twin Towers burned to the ground and the Pentagon went up in flames.
In comparison, Obama did a WONDERFUL job dealing with this horrible tragedy.
So true, and not only did Bush continue to sit and listen to "Mother Goose" stories while the nation was under attack; but he further insulted patriotic Americans by reading the damn book upside down. Worse, his administration largely ignored the INTEL that could have prevented this disastrous attack to begin with.
And let's not forget his absence the during and immediately following the Katrina disaster. He was warned before the hurrican struck, just as he was warned about the impending attacks of 9-11. Bush continued to assure Americans and the world that we were fully prepared. Watch it!
Perhaps the best measre of true insensitivity is when you give the command as a President to ban media coverage of soldiers` coffins. Heroes ushered home and to a final resting place through the back door!
I think President Obama did a wonderful job as well.
It never makes sense to me when obama is compared to some other president that was involved in some choice or behavior that was not acceptable, rather than what we expect from our president. If your wife was often drunk, used drugs was un faithful on a regular basis, would you say " she is doing no worse than anna nichole smith" or would you hold her to a higher level of accountability, your standard of what a wife should be like and you know she is capable of. we need to demand more of a president than some ones elses personal worst. He should rise to our expectations of our president and perform at his personal best.
Seems to me he is peforming at his best. It's just that you conservatives are the party of "NO." Where was that call for a sensible standard when GWB and president Cheney were pissing America's reputation, resources and wealth down the tank during their infamous reign?
BenBetter,
An excellent and apt response. I wonder when the Obamatics are going to realise that just saying "Bush did it too" has been unconvincing for months.
Interestingly enough, when it came to the Harvard Prof. and the Cambridge cop OBAMA was more than willing to cast blame, declaring it racism, immediately and from the WH, in a news conference.
Maybe Obama is performing at his personal best. For America's sake I hope not, but I'm not holding my breath either.
obama is just such a disappointment, when we really need someone to LEAD!I think he has no personal passion,he just waits for the polls to see which way to respond. when he jumps out early on something like THE CAMBRIDGE INCIDENT he is usually wrong. He always seems like he is acting never sincere about what he is READING, I meant saying.
BenBetter
One slight correction, in an otherwise thoughtful comment.
"I think he has no personal passion"--BenBetter
Obama does have personal passion. He is passionate about Chicago-style political power and absolutely enthralled with his MARXIST theories of government.
