The remarkable global outpouring of emotion and opinion about Michael Jackson’s death shows no sign of abating. Questions about his relationships with children, his decades-long attempt to whiten his skin, and his tendency to do everything most people do in reverse, are all touched upon by Le Figaro’s Yann Moix, in this thought-provoking defense of Michael Jackson and the way he was compelled to live. In regard to the issue of pedophilia, Moix writes in part: “At seven-years-old, he was already a global star, with businessmen breathing down his neck, managers hot on his heels and groupies on his tail. It was therefore necessary for Michael to postpone his childhood until later: i.e.: until an age usually considered adulthood. … Accusing him of pedophilia when he was “grown up” made no more sense than accusing him of gerontophilia when he was “little.” A child (at last) when his fortune and fame allowed it, he spent his final years playing with children.” Another controversial section is Moix’s analysis of Jackson’s wish to whiten his skin. He writes in part: “In a world, not only of Whites - but run by and for Whites, to whiten oneself was a way to blend into the background, to disappear from view, to be nothing but a flake of snow in a storm. Jagger and Presley spent their whole lives working hard to become Black; but upside down in every way, Michael did everything he could to become a White man.”

Michael Jackson, the moonwalking former child star who became known the world over as the "King of Pop" before his life and career deteriorated in a freakish series of scandals, died Thursday, a person with knowledge of the situation told The Associated Press. He was 50.I will not set in judgement over Michael Jackson, he was a great performer, and though he was accused of being a child molester, nobody really knows if that's true, or if it was just a way for someone to make quick cash. I just want to say we can't believe all that we hear, Hollywood is full of rumors. If it's true, it's in Gods hands, not ours. I say god bless his soul and my condolences to his family & loved ones. Let him rest in peace. I never knew him personally so I can't say what he did or didn't do. He paid his dues, so be it. Farewell to a great performer. I'm sure a lot of people will disagree with me, but I won't lose any sleep over the way I personally feel. So say what you will about my opinion, it's on you.
