Something frighteningly ominous has been happening on the Internet lately: Google, without any prior explanation or notice, has been terminating its News relationship with conservative e-zines and web journals. At first blush, one can easily ignore such business decisions by the most powerful company on the Internet as being routine. However, on closer examination, such behavior could give one relatively small technological corporation (when measured by the size of its workforce) a degree of political might that frankly dwarfs its current financial prowess. It’s Not So Easy Being A Conservative E-Zine As reported by NewsBusters , the most recent occurrence of this unexplained phenomenon was Friday, May 19, when Frank Salvato, proprietor of The New Media Journal , realized that his conten

Google has long been an enemy to Free Speech, unless of course it was Liberal drivel. Anything showing a sign of actual thought and a Conservative bent has routinely been demoted or excluded by Google. Now apparently the Censorial tendencies of the left are becoming common place as this article details.
Marlowe suggests that anyone who values fairness in News start using Yahoo or the new search engine from Microsoft called BING. Marlowe must admit to not having sampled BING enough to draw a conclusion as to fairness but at least it isn't Google.
More conservatie dribble: I don`t buy into the validity of this article. You`ll believe anything if it`s coming from the right. No matter what the article says, it`s simply a lie.
I knew all along you had no concept of what making money and running a business is all about. I make a living on the "Google Highway". I`ve told the forum that a thousand times. I`ve even met the cat who runs Google--Matt Cutts. Google, like Tark has tried to explain, is a private enterprise. Ranking on Google is largely a matter of otiimizing a site through both its architecture and internal content.
Google doesn`t eliminate sites merely for political reasons. They`ve made the information highway more accessible than any other search engine company. Any sites that violate the algorithm directives are either kicked down in rankings or banned altogether from a search query. You have to do something wrong to be banned from Google--it has nothing to do with politics.
Tark is correct, Google has a right to censor any type of material that it sees fit. But it simply doesn`t do that because it would be bad for business. On the other hand, it couldn`t please me more that Google would place conservative dribble beneath porn in a search engine query.
You go right ahead and tell your GOP munchkins to switch to Yahoo. Hell, tell them to use Netcape if it still exists.
Google is a private company. Just as Fox news has the right to spew lies and consistently lie and put that little (D) in front of all republicans caught committing crimes, Google has the right to reject a site for any reason.
When it decides that a far right site is beyond the pale, it is no more censorship then when Fox news does what it does.
At best you might have the right to say "Google is liberal". But Google has the right to be liberal.
Anything beyond that is just sour grapes, complaining that the world has left your failed idealogy behind.
Your effort to equate Google bias with FOX news is not germain to the discussion. The topic is bias in GOOGLE not a broader discussion of bias in the larger society. But here is an excellent and exhaustive survey proving not only that your position on FNC is not germain but is INACCURATE.
"But Google has the right to be liberal."---Tarkin1
You are absolutely correct that GOOGLE has a right, as a private business to make any decision about censorship they want. They also must bear the consequences that those decisions produce.
This is a poor decision because it alienates a large segment (40% of Americans Conservative-Gallup Poll) of the American population. It also creates a market for any entrepreneur who brings a "Fair and Balanced" search engine to the marketplace. Possibly Microsofts new engine BING will be that market response
An aside, isn't the real reason your hate FNC is because they are so dominant?? It's a well known fact that Liberals can't stand dissent.
Google is the #1 seach engine because they they're focus is customer based.
Here's a reason I loathe GWB:
It is modern moneychangers (sanctioned by the right) who bully and bribe our spineless and greedy politicians (from both parties) into passing so-called "free trade" deals such as NAFTA, CAFTA, and the FTAA, which have all but destroyed America's manufacturing base and have put millions of American workers out of their jobs.
The last three American Presidents, too, have been willing pawns in the hands of the moneychangers. Remember, it was Bill Clinton and Senate Minority Leader Bob Dole who collaborated to shove NAFTA down our throats. It was Bush 41 who first publicly promoted a "New World Order." But it has been George W. Bush who has done more to appease the globalist plans of the moneychangers than any President since Woodrow Wilson.
G.W. Bush has used the rubric of "the war on terrorism" to dismantle not only the personal liberties of the American people (most notably with his Gestapo-like Patriot Act), but also the constitutional principles of national sovereignty and independence. For example, back in 2006, G.W. Bush eviscerated one of America's most sacred doctrines protecting liberty and independence: the Posse Comitatus Act of 1878, which disallowed U.S. military troops from being used against U.S. citizens. (Of course, this did not stop Bill Clinton and Janet Reno from using U.S. troops against U.S. citizens at Waco, Texas. And thanks to G.W. Bush, the crime was permanently covered up.)
The last three American Presidents were willing pawns in the hands of the moneychangers. It was Bill Clinton and Senate Minority Leader Bob Dole who collaborated to shove NAFTA down our throats. It was Bush 41 who first publicly promoted a "New World Order." But it has been George W. Bush who has done more to appease the globalist plans of the moneychangers than any President since Woodrow Wilson.
Conservatives would have us believe that President Bush and the Republican Party were working to reverse the rush toward bigger and bigger government. They weren’t. In fact, Bush and Company put the pedal to the metal when it comes to promoting a bigger-than-ever federal system. In fact, Bush had used the events of 9/11 to strip Americans of more liberties than any President during the 20th Century, including Bill Clinton or Franklin Roosevelt.
And you wonder why I can’t stand to hear the man’s name mentioned.
Damn, not used to this small notebook. THEIR THEIR THEIR. And what`s wrong with the editing tools on this site? Marlowe, why don`t you fix your site. I know that you`re involved in running it.
Anyhow, you get the pix. GWB is a first rate criminal. THE NEW WORLD ORDER! Direct from the mouth of his old man.
