Barack Obama will appear on The O'Reilly Factor on Fox News tonight. John McCain cancelled his interview with CNN. That sums up all you need to know about either candidate - and, in a nutshell, explains why Barack Obama will win the White House on Nov. 4.

This is pure sophistry. McCain will face hostile questions over the remaining 60+ days of the campaign no matter what network he goes on. So if it isn't CNN it will be NBC or MSNBC or the NYT might just decide to do another 7,500 word front page hit job on him. Conservatives know they will always be facing a hostile situation anytime they go on a network or grant an interview with a major newspaper.
Obama, on the otherhand is NEVER asked a tough question by reporters who feel a tingle going down their leg just being in the Messiahs presence. I give Obama alot of credit for going on O'Reilly.
Hillary went on O'Reilly and was treated very fairly. Hillary was also losing so she had very little to lose by facing the Grand Inquisitor. I personally will be watching every move the big O makes tonight to see if he asks the tough questions he will never be asked by any other part of the media. If Wright,Ayers and Rezko don't come up alot I will be cancelling my membership in The Vast Right Wing Conspiracy. Good grief I still don't believe she said that.
Obama is going on O'Reilly for one or possibly both of these reasons. To blunt or hide behind the McCain speech or secondly, he knows he's behind and has become desperate.
Another sign that BHO is behind will be when he finally accepts JSM's offer for Joint Town Hall appearences. Looking forward to that day.
WHAT AN IMPRESSIVE BUNCH OF BABIES. Can't take the heat, get out of the kitchen. O'Reilly didn't even let Obama finish an answer. It was a total hit piece. Obama took it in stride. You guys are impressive in mastering the WHINE.
Of course O'Reilly interrupted him. He was rambling on innanely trying to answer the question about why he was against the surge.
Why didn't he just man up and give the real reason he was against the Surge. He was against the Surge cuz he knew it would work and make GWB look good. Leftie, hate to tell you this but your guy is politics as usual. OLD SCHOOL.
He got exactly 5 seconds into his answer. IT was a hit piece. Why is Sarah Palin taking no interview????? Because she can't stand the heat. The REAL heat. Man up John McCain and answer why you were for the bill you wrote before you were against it. No comment will no longer do.
Leftie calm down. We'll still be friends in the morning
Hey there leftie: Obama shows a lot of class. John McCain is pissin' the press off, and I love it. They're going to turn on him now in ways you couldn't imagine.
I'm never wrong.
Well, McCain would never have the guts to show up on Olbermann's show much less Larry King. Rambling...huh? The Surge was basically a net increase of 2500 combat soldiers which in essense took us back to previous troop levels. The Anbar Awakening and Son of Iraq movement where we paid militias is what did the trick which is what we should have done early on anyway. The whole surge thing is just another lie and misdirection the right pushes.
Baghdad Pre-Surge 400 attacks/day
Baghdad Post-Surge 4/Day.
Are you seriously doubting the success of the Surge. If you are you are in slim company.
Petreus is talking about troop reductions things have gone so well.
The failed surge shouldn't exist! There were no WPM found! Didn't you know that?
wpm?? Words Per Minute??
How can you say this after the Charlie Gibson moderated debate?! Also, the interview was scheduled weeks ago. I love the victim mentality on the right. "Oh, the world is against us but at least God is on our side." It's amazing that more about Plame doesn't come out. I WANT TO KNOW ABOUT HER PASTER AND WHY SHE DID NOT LEAVE THAT CHURCH?! WHY WOULD SHE STAY?! I'll tell you why, because on the right side of the partisan divide it's quite acceptable to hate and fear monger. If you do it on the left...your'e a radical.
l2, do you have a link to the Charilie Gibson debate you mention above?
The transcript can easily be found via ABC. Here's a summary: http://www.washingtonpost.com/wp-dyn/content/article/2008/04/17/AR2008041700013.html
thanks!
And yes, the left doesn't complain when Palin gets a free pass on her SECESSIONIST party ties and her crazy pastor. If you guys can call Obama a Marxist with a straight face then I think it's extremely safe for me to call Palin the Fascist that she is.
l2, Considerng the short time they've had to work on 'exposing' Gov. Palin's past, those on your sides have exposed themselves to be expert attack dogs. I hope they keep it up. Their efforts tell the voters more about the attackers and their candidate than it does about Gov. Palin.
Please continue calling Gov. Palin any name you wish. :-)
Disagree. I think the right is brilliant at baiting. You might here crap from me, but you'll never here that kind of crap from the DNC.
Lefty:
Do I take it from your comment about Charlie Gibson that you think he's anything other than your average garden variety CBS liberal?
Also what is it her pastor said that makes you take such umbrage??
Marlowe,
Larry King does not have a reputation as an attack-dog inquisitor of the left. He wouldn't be able to land the interviewees he does if that was the case.
Senator McCain's cancellation is purely in response to Campbell Brown's interview of Tucker Bounds, in which she kept after him when she though Bounds' answers were weak or evasive.
That's somewhat beneath Senator McCain, and a pretty drastic change from the man who rode the Straight Talk Express.
Senator Obama's appearance on The Factor is the fruit of the meeting he had with Rupert Murdoch and Roger Ailes. The reporting is that everyone came to a tacit agreement that Fox would not cut him off at the knees, but not be 'in the tank' for him, either.
I'll expect more than a few tough questions from O'Reilly.
And yes, I'll be watching - it should be interesting counterprogramming to Senator McCain's aceptance speech.
I appreciate the fact that Obama writes his own speech versus having Matthew Sculley write them (http://www.huffingtonpost.com/2008/09/03/palin-prepares-speech-for_n_123476.html).
Obama's making a ballsy move going on Fox. I love the fact that NBC is perceived as biased when FOX defined the market for slanted news. The hypocrisy neither has shame nor bounds.
Lefty:
NO POLITICIAN WRITES THERE OWN SPEECHES. If they did it would be a poor use of time. Now note: I did not say they don't make thematic suggestions or abdicate editorial judgement but they all have speech writers. Meet the Messiahs Man.
By the way Lefty you won a bet for me with my wife. After the way Palin hit it out of the park last night I bet my wife that the press would snear,"she didn't write it" Well neither does the Messiah.
Nah, his acceptance speech, he wrote.
Wrong. He does not always write his own speech. However, his PA speech on race and his acceptance speech were explicitly written by him.
Leftie:
I will say this. Obama the change agent has had to make one executive decision so far in this campaign and that was the choice of his VP. What did he do? Was he a change agent, did he throw down an olive branch to Hillary? No, he went old school. Picked an old retread in Biden. That was his first executive decision.
His second bad decision is wasting his valuable time writing speeches. An executive needs to delegate and oversee.
Sarah Palin is going to win this election for the GOP. If BHO had chosen Hillary their would be no PALIN and it would be game, set and match for the Democrats.
Wrong! It doesn't matter who his choice was. Rove has in hands in McCain's front pocket--and there's no life in the whitered old worm...chuckle.
Politics as usual. The right made the choice for McCain, but it's turning out to be the wrong choice.
Victor:
Is the CNN cancel actually due to the Brown dust-up? Or just speculation? I actually saw that little exchange and she was so aggressive I was taken aback by her attitude. If you watch very closely right at the end of the sequence she suddenly realizes her fangs are showing and suddenly goes to a smile. Sort of like the now famous "laugh to tears" in a nanosecond by WJC at Ron Brown's funeral.
O'Reilly knows his reputation as the Vast Right Wing Conspiracy Inquisitor in Chief is on the line. I expect politeness, professionalism and an ass kicking. He heard loud and clear from the base about pitching batting practice to HRC.
Marlowe,
See the article above:
"The official story is that McCain cancelled his appearance on Larry King Live because he was angry that CNN reporter Campbell Brown grilled a McCain strategist about Sarah Palin's experience as "commander in chief" of the Alaska National Guard."
I had the good timing to land on CNN during the interview - and I would not have wanted to be in Tucker Bound's seat for love or money. He was bobbing, ducking and weaving as best he could... but Campbell Brown wasn't having it.
I'm not advocating attack journalism, but if both sides knew in advance that interviewers were going to be less tolerant of talking point recitations and more interested in eliciting substantive answers, we would have a better-informed audience... and maybe higher ratings, too.
As far as tonight's Factor, like you, I expect O'Reilly to be on top of his interviewing game, but I don't expect an ass-kicking. Maybe a little 'playful' banter, so as not to upset Roger Ailes and Rupert Murdoch.
This is absolutely silly. He was dodgey and so for doing her job she is being aggressive. No wonder everyone was too scared shitless to ask the right questions before the Iraq war. What a bunch of whiners. Look at the Gibson debate. Brown is dating a famous GOPer and is not exactly known for being a hard ball questioner. Sorry, the right can dish it, but simply can't take it.
Thanks for the info.
It looks to me like O'Reilly is pulling a little trick on the Messiah. It now appears that most of the BHO interview will be next Tuesday not tonight.
Bill O'Reilly given Obama a fair shake? HAH! You guys are such victim complex whiners! WHINERS!!! You think Campbell Brown was harsh? O'Reilly did not even let him finishing his sentences.
Victor:\
Believe me Ailes and Murdoch have already received there gift on this one.
Actually a little blood will be great for the ratings. Since I have no dog in this fight I can watch without a nervous stomach.
Oh by the way Good for McCain. He;s got loyalty for his people You do a hatchet job on them and McCain will get you. LK is the only show on CNN to draw flies so the lose of McCain will hurt $$$$$$$
Hatechet job? If you're a spokesperson than you need to "speak."
Campbell Brown was way over the top on this one.
Too back Obama wussed out of those Town Hall meetings huh?
