For those interested, I will be making my choice for president public next week. The candidates, we now know, are Barack Obama and Joe Biden for the Democrats and John McCain and Sarah Palin for the Republicans. My choice will be made next week, so nothing I write here should be perceived as an endorsement of either ticket. The newly announced vice presidential candidate Governor Sarah Palin , is at this point the only unknown personality. If McCain wins the election on November 4th, his choice of Palin will be praised as a stroke of genius. However, if he loses, he will be viewed as a dope who shot himself in the foot by selecting Palin and assured his own defeat. Palin has so far come across as an extraordinary woman whose political experience includes serving as a mayor of an Alaska

"Abortion is a solution to unwanted pregnancy as killing poor people is a solution to poverty"
This is a fals anaology for many people. "poor people" are acknoledged to be people by most non republicans. The abortion issue is difficult because it is difficult to get peopel to agree on when fertilized egg becomes a person. There is the added difficulty that many people do not believe in a soul or do not agree on when the sould inhabits the body. It gets even worse when you consider that some people don't think we even have the right to attempt to keep a sperm and an egg from uniting in the first place.
To illustrate this question I submit a dilemma. If you were in a burning fertility clinic and had to choose between a 2 year old child and a cooler with 10,000 human fertilized eggs to leave the building with, which would you save?
This question is not a dilemma for me, I choose the child because a fertilized egg is little more than a sperm to me and I don't believe in the soul. Other people would make other decisions.
Anyway, I do not accept your analogy.
At what stage in their development to people have a right not to be killed by others? Until you answer that question with consisten non-arbitrary criteria, my analogy is valid. You can't just appeal to disagreement on whether who has a right to life. People have disagreed about that with respect to many groups of people.
I think your dilemma is a false one because this isn't a question of triage. What if there were a 2 two-year-old and a 1-year-old and you could only save one? Which would you choose? Does it mean that you believe the age of the child you choose gives her more of a right to life? Why or why not? My answer is no, that it doesn't matter because questions of triage have nothing to do with whether a person is a rightful human being.
Please scream this as the position of the McCain-Palin administration from the highest mountains in the land. Please, please, go out and do this.
Why? What is so hard for you to understand? Where do you draw the line? And why? Affraid to say? Have you got the same solution for poverty that Obama has for uwanted pregnancy? Why do we send a mother to prison for shaking and severely injuring her infant when just weeks earlier she could have had it killed in utero no questions asked? How do you justify applying the ethic of triage where such a situation doesn't exist and using it to categorically deny the right not to be killed to a whole class of human beings?
I love how NBC is taken out as being horribly biased. Come on Fox News fan...you create the reation to the BS you start. In addition, if you look at CNBC which is part of NBC, you'll see that it's pretty right wing. So, at least NBC is truly balanced.
Now, compare Bartiromo's interview with Palin with O'Reilly and Obama. Come on! How much BS can you guys on the right spew out. One was a human interest story on NBC and the other was a hit piece on FOX.
