WE all have irritants that make us want to reach for the revolver. One of mine is the bumper-stickerization of the American mind - the reduction of our hard-won freedom of political speech to slogans that substitute for vision. (And on the subject of bumper stickers: One per car is OK, but anything more is public masturbation. And I don't want to see that when I pull up behind you at the stoplight.) Parrot-talk on policy infects both ends of the political spectrum. Extremists like things neat and simple. But, these days, tape-loop talk has reached epidemic proportions on the left. Rational debate? Ain't going to find it at that MoveOn fund-raiser. Worst of all, the most enduringly popular slogans tend to be either dishonest,

As a side bar I have to say that liberals are the masters of debate by BS "If you want peace fight for justice" is my favorite but I actually have a whole collection of vacuous liberal BS I would be glad to share with you.
Well excuse me for that little side trip. His point is that dissent only makes sense when it is based on facts (Stamp Act Rebellion)and not emotional temper tantrums( burning government buildings for no good reason).Dissent can be patriotic but it isn't when it involves spitting on returning Vietnam veterans. During my college days this type of dissent was considered highly patriotic by the wingnut Leftists on campus but in reality was nothing more than a childish temper tantrum.
Now I suspect where your real grievance with Col. Peters arises is when he takes a shot at BHO's book with the BS (Bumper Sticker)title "The Audacity of Hope". What may I ask you is audacious about hope.Audacity is defined as:fearless, daring, intrepid, patriotic.Hope on the other hand is what you do when you haven't studied for your calculus final.
So in the final analysis in BHO we have a candidate for president whose campaign theme is a BS (Bumper Sticker)mantra,CHANGE who wrote a campaign book with a BS title "The Audacity of Hope". In short your candidates "raison d'etre" is nothing but a BS (Bumper Sticker)
